The conservative American Conservative says President Barack Obama has not been fit to serve as commander in chief, and it’s not because he’s a Democrat.
In an editorial titled “The President’s Failing,” the magazine said Obama is not fit to be president because he has “never been able to do what is needed to make this country great.”
It cited his handling of the Ebola crisis and his “fear-mongering rhetoric” about Americans.
The article said Obama’s lack of “leadership skills” have been a problem in his first term, citing his “doubly irresponsible” actions on immigration and foreign policy.
“There are many reasons to be worried,” the editorial said.
“He has repeatedly expressed his deep concern about the threat of terrorism, but when the threat is real, he is a weak leader.
He has repeatedly tried to be ‘tough on crime,’ but the vast majority of his efforts have been ineffective.
And he has made no real effort to stop the flow of illegal aliens into the country, but he has repeatedly been in favor of letting them into the United States.”
A spokeswoman for the conservative magazine did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The editorial is the latest salvo in a fight with some conservatives over whether Obama should be reelected.
Conservative pundit Erick Erickson, who is running for president, tweeted Thursday that the election will be “the last election of Obama” and warned Republicans to “make sure they vote for Trump.”
On Friday, Breitbart News host Alex Marlow told CNN that Obama “is not a conservative.
He is not a Republican.
He will not be a Republican president.”
The president’s campaign did not respond to The Washington Post’s request for comments.
Obama’s approval rating has fallen since the end of his second term.
The poll showed just 28 percent approve of his job performance, down from 51 percent in July, the most recent available, and 36 percent approve, up from 33 percent.
Republicans’ approval rating fell to 41 percent in the July poll, the lowest in six months.
The president has a 48-percent approval rating in the new poll.
The most recent survey from the Pew Research Center showed Obama’s approval ratings at 54 percent, with a record low disapproval rating of 41 percent.
“It’s very important that Republicans keep their focus on the election and focus on what is going on right now in America, not focus on whether or not the president will be re-elected,” Erickson said on Friday.
“You know, he has been the worst president since the Great Depression.
He’s been the most unpopular president in history.
The fact is, he’s not fit for office.
He doesn’t know what it’s like to be commander in charge.”
The American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank, has published a poll that found Trump’s approval has dropped 15 points since he was inaugurated.
The American National Election Studies poll found Trump has a 52 percent approval rating, with 41 percent disapproving.
